State of the art prevention technology

Bologna - 14 September 2016 - Pietro Di Febo

For effective prevention, a full check-up is essential.
At the Private Clinic Villalba of Bologna, in the hills of one of the most beautiful Italian cities, home to the oldest university in the Western world, you can have specialised check-ups by the best professionals in the field employing the most advanced equipment. Dr. Martina Rosticci, the coordinator of the check up service at the Private Clinic Villalba, explains how they carry out their activities.

What does a complete check-up entail?
An multiorgan assessment carried out by a multidisciplinary team such as the fundamental  medical family history in order to investigate risk factors, blood tests with an evaluation of all metabolic parameters and detection of blood pressure according to international guidelines ESC / ESH 2013.
Following that, further analysis such as a complete abdominal ultrasound, thyroid, ultrasound virtual colonoscopy (CT Colon) and gynecological and urological evaluation. In cardiology, electrocardiogram (ECG), echocardiography, Doppler ultrasound TSA and stress test.

What is the state of the art equipment used?
We follow an innovative method with pre-tests a Calcium Score Study using a software with a very low cardiosynchronised radiation dose which measures the level of coronary calcification. Everyone can undergo this type of assessment, with the added advantage of carrying out HRCT (High Resolution Computed Tomography) at the same time, to search for pulmonary nodules. In addition, we have a machine to carry out a Cardiac CT in outpatients, a non-vascular invasive method for examining the coronary tree. Thanks to our innovative methodology, this type of examination is also suitable for patients with arrhythmia. The check-ups at Villalba Clinic are personalised and carried out by a multidisciplinary team.

What is special about this procedure?
In one day only, the patient receives a full multi-organ evaluation with further real time analyses, and has a dedicated team available to provide quick results. There is an individual test result report after each check-up for revaluation and monitoring of parameters and risk factors.
